Just discovered your podcast. Pretty good, better than many. So far I’ve listened to the two part Haley Cummings story. The main host ( forget his name, sorry) is definitely ok, but this captain fellow is dead weight. He makes inane comments that clearly demonstrate his tenuous grasp of the facts of the case. Not sure why you have a sidekick anyway. And such a lame one at that. How pretentious is that anyway? “Captain “, omg super lame.

I've been listening to this podcast for years, I think it's absolutely the best. I appreciate the work y'all do, and how much heart and empathy you both bring to each case.

WTH?! BETH ! The Captain is hilarious and is very much apart of this show 50/50! I couldn't imagine NO cap! I think TCG fans will agree with me too!! Remember what your mom hopefully taught you "if u don't have something nice to say"............Anyways this is a super sad episode. Always hard to hear about missing children. I just can't believe some sick bastard thinking they have a right to steal a child :(

Slight correction, gentlemen. The body was hidden in concrete, not cement. Concrete is the heavy building material, cement is the powder used to make concrete. Common misconception, but I studied and work with it so just doing my duty there :) Also lighten up Beth you hoser

Beth, it’s a great show not just because of the slick production and great research but also because of the thoughtful and polite comment area. That said: welcome! Nic and the Captain’s fine work on this podcast has been a great (and free) source of entertainment for me here in my dotage, and I hope they both keep on just as they have. Three cheers for the Captain. As for this week’s case, a detective I saw interviewed regarding a different abduction had this excellent advice: In any abduction attempt, the victim should flee and, if necessary, fight from the very first moment. I saw on Dateline an attempted abduction in which the woman, at gunpoint, simply refused go with the guy; that saved her life. Also, from the detective’s advice, I infer: in the worst case, if the abductor is intent on killing you and if they have what it takes to do so, forcing them to do that first and where you stand is still your best option. So, don’t forget to teach your kids to flee, as Mrs. Ryce did, but also to fight. I don’t know how much difference it would have made for Jimmy, but it may make a difference somewhere else. Even at gunpoint don’t go with them. Run, refuse, fight.

I was so so impressed you donated 1000.00 to the Jimmy Ryce center. I will continue to listen and support your sponsors. Thank you for a great and awesome podcast every week

I listen to a lot (too much) true crime. Most true crime podcasts are speculative and lack professionalism. Or just regurgitate what I already know about a case. I honestly avoided the show for a while because I was not sure if two guys drinking beer in a garage would handle the cases with the seriousness and the detail I appreciate. I could not have been more wrong. The JonBenet episodes alone are the best out there. My husband and I renovated a house this spring and I listened to the entire catalog while we worked. I moved on to OTR, which I also really enjoy for other reasons. From the FIRST time I listened, I noted the quality music and production. The music and the editing are such a big part of the professionalism of the podcast. I am not sure people understand how much work goes into creating this level of content. SO. MUCH. WORK. Everyone has a role. I appreciate BOTH Nic and the Captain for what they do EACH WEEK. Without the other, there is no TCG. Social media has created a weird world where people feel entitled to share their opinions, informed or not. Everyone is quick to write a negative review for some experience. And less likely to take the time to tell someone they are doing great work. I usually err on the said of saying less—because who really cares what my “opinion” is on any subject? The earlier comment struck a nerve and I wanted to be sure to thank you for all your excellent work. Much appreciated!
