Is that interlude music a Captain original? Very Thriller. Very funky. Awesome job.

As a resident of Baltimore this was a great series. On a side note I worked off James street and know the area and the pallet company. Didn’t know what happened there and it’s funny since the street walkers still hang out there.

So basically learned that if you get high and have sex with a dead body, the getting high is the only crime in MD. Because 1018.

This last episode ...wow....been a true crime junky for years but this one really bothers me. Not sure if it’s the serving up of victims talk, or the callous lack of remorse, or something else., but good job, gentlemen.

I'm with you Nic, I would take a pass at purchasing anything from this guy let alone street meat. Speaking of which, I wonder how he became so obese in prison, a little too well fed me thinks. As always the show was so captivating and the Captain's grooves were spot on. X

I agree that this POS should have been executed. More and more often judges are inserting their own views into the death penalty debate and no one can argue with them. That is anti-democratic and borders on regal government.

I don’t think this guy was “field dressing”anyone...... or had ever done it before. He was a shit bag for sure. But anyone that has ever hunted deer knows you don’t use a hacksaw blade to field dress anything.

Your bringing up that there's a certain number of serial killers in the trucking industry brings up the issue of the West Memphis Three. The proximity of a large trucking plaza to the site where the three little boys were murdered and disposed of becomes very, very interesting. Something in that case is off, way off. In the light of the glutton for death's confessions about his behavior in re. lot lizards and what he did to dispose of the bodies afterwards, is there the possibility that someone using similar tactics came in through the plaza/highway system, did the boys, and literally drove off unencumbered to parts unknown, a hundred miles away by the time the bodies were found? That, and the way the boys were killed: it feels highly practiced, almost ritualistic, if not flat out fetishist, from the way they were tied to the way they were killed. Has anybody bothered to find out if similar killings have been done in other parts of the country? Has the land around truck plazas along that route been investigated? Have similar disappearances occurred along that route? I mean, if a 500 pound serial killer is back page news (I guess he wasn't as "glamorous" as say, Ted Bundy or John Gacey. I mean, unless Marlon Brando opts to rise from the dead to take on the role, I doubt even Hollywood would be willing to make a movie about him unless they rewrote him as a hot powerlifter with a bad yen for dead girls...) How many similar deaths in small towns have occurred but are so far apart that CNN doesn't think them worthy of reporting. Just a thought!

Sgt. Mac - keep in mind I said I wasn't going to go into the amount of detail that Joe used to describe his actions. Field dressing was an accurate and polite way to describe it as he wrote about what he did to those women. Nic

Beth - if you see the words serial killer in the episode title or show notes just know it's going to be some of the worst stuff you have ever heard. The Captain and I even cleaned up the story line at many parts. We took a horrible story and brought it down to a rated R podcast. Cheers Nic

So he seems to have a strong hatred for women.. Street workers.. AND his mom.. His mom was "always working odd jobs" to put bread on the table. Aside from a possible snapping point for him being his baby momma leaving and later turning to street working.. Has anyone considered the possibility that Joe's mother could have been a street worker at times herself?

That could be a possiblity Murph and even if that's not true who knows what he believed growing up as to how his mother made money. My thought is he might have started picking up working girls while out driving the big rig cross country. There can be situations that come with these appointments, unhappy customers, thievery and the transmission of diseases. These types of things can cause a loser like Joe to seek out revenge on all women in similar occupations. Another likely scenario is this, some men who have severe inadequacy issues regardless of where they stem from prefer or cannot finish with a willing, conscious or alive female. Sounds crazy and it definitely is but also very, very true and also very common among serials. Hard to say cheers after that but what the hell, cheers! Nic

Hands down this episode's track is by far, my favorite. I LOVE the bassline... it ROCKS! Horrible story though and yes, he does look like L4D's Boomer. (I have to admit, i was imagining the Boomer's theme "Pukricide" playing faintly in the background of the track when i was listening to it. Wouldn't that sound dope?!)

I live in south Baltimore myself, what a chilling case! I had vaguely heard about it a while back but I love that you covered the case. Personally, I think he has a big mouth and did not do all these murders he claims he did. Lets be honest, he was by all account a fat drunk slob, so I dont think he could murder 5 people in 7h. I think most of his ramblings are fantasies (especially about the 12 year old girl). Baltimore at that time was very working class and tight-knit, a missing 12 year old girl would have been all over the news and you would find record of that. Meat sandwhiches? eh. I think the people who claim to probably have eaten it just want some attention, general bar talk and such. He should have gotten the chair....

I love you guys, I tell everyone to tune in. I also try to find your favorite beers. I love stouts so I try to find your 5 bottle caps picks. The only 5 I've heard was big bad Baptist but I haven't found it yet. I I'm always looking for more stories like the north Hollywood bank robbers, could you guys get into anything like that? The stories of women and children getting killed turns out to be pretty traumatic I've found. What about some stories about heavy hitter crooks , I find them to be pretty interesting. Ok so thanks for all the hard work, you guys are great!

Hi Charles, You need to do some beer sleuthing! I've had to figure out what carry outs and bars are doing in my area. Once you do this its like unlocking secret rooms in a Zelda dungeon! Big Bad Baptist is a must, must try for you my friend. They are out of Salt Lake City so you should be able to find them. Typically they are in the big expensive bomber bottles. 24 ounces so look in those section plus ask a couple of "beer guys" what's up.i live the triple B! Cheers Nic

This guy killed more people then he should have been allowed to. I put this on the police, who just sometimes don't put much stock in victims they consider to be "undesirable."

Captain, thanks for the shout out to good old Rockville, Md. Raised here since elementary school and work on the Pike. Mom still lives in our original house. Love the show, keep up the great work. There were either one or two sisters that went missing in the 1970's in Rockville and went missing after leaving the High School (Wootton) or the Jr. High (Frost). Have others requested you do a show on this? I know it was a mystery for 20 or 30 years and they could not find out where they went or any remains. Say hey to Nick!

First off this one was hard to listen to, not because of the crimes but because I am the child of a man with very similar personality traits and characteristics of this man, a man who is also serving 50 years in prison for crimes done to myself and my sister, though his victims are likely far more than that. My gut feeling when you started talking about this guy's life and who he is, he's most likely a pathological liar who gets off not only on hurting other people, but on creating a monstrous persona built mostly of lies and the feeling of power that it gives him. I highly doubt he killed that 12 year old. As you said, probably just fantasized about it or even fed off someone else's story in prison. I highly doubt he killed any other than those 2 "houseless" 😁 men in that one instance where he gloated about killing 5 people in that short amount of time. I *highly* doubt he turned any of his victims into sandwiches. He sounds like a guy that is not only real scum but tries to make up for it by creating a false persona with maybe a few real truths as building blocks. That's who my father was. Everyone loved him, thought he was so funny. Thought he was a cool guy. Smart. As a kid he was a good quiet kid. He became a monster. The only thing he liked more than raping children was lying and making himself into more than he was. Conning people. Making him think he was big important stuff when really - as the captain says - he was just a piece of sh*t.
