Very good point about the walking distance between the trails and Delphi. I have, in fact, made that walk. Took a wrong turn during a 5k and ended up on the town square.

I think bridge guy could be a lot younger than many people believe. I can almost see a swoopy Justin Bieber-esque hair cut in one frame. Please see my mock up. http://i64.tinypic.com/xugoz.jpg

SB - well done on that mock up - everyone should give that a look. I'm with you on that likely being the hair style. Again I think BG got lucky and that he may appear different in the short, grainy video - that its not a great view of his true appearance/likeness. I think the sketch with the flat hat on has deceived us. I think when we look and stare at the picture/video our minds are filling in the blanks where our eyes left off. I see that hair style and he is wearing a hoodie under the jacket and when he is crossing the bridge he has his hood up. I would like to see the new sketch with a hood up. Or at least some variations of the new sketch in some more of the clothing that we can see in the video - jacket, hoodie, hat and so on. Nic

Two white girls get killed and every podcast and news outlet in America stays glued to the story for two years. If this happens to two girls of color, would anybody know their names? Judging by practically zero cases dealing with minorities on any podcasts, I think we know the answer to that question. I am not singling out podcasts, they obviously respond to public interests, which is where the problem lies. And with the current political climate in America, I don't see any changes coming.

just another angle. after looking at map of area there are active rail lines and the mention of walking on track quickly also the clothes bridge guy is wearing have police looked into a railroad worker .they drive vehicles that go on tracks and streets also are familiar with area. could hide in plane site .

SB - I can't unsee your mock up and I think it is a total match for the suspects face! Looking at the picture of him walking compared to your mock up makes me really feel like I can get a better visual of his face that I didn't see before. Thanks for providing that!

Also - in reference to SB's mock up, I now feel the suspect is actually much younger than I previously pictured! I thought looked much older this whole time (similar to Q from impractical jokers or up to 10-15 years older) but now looking much closer at his face he looks in his 20s to mid 30s.

People saying the family reacted "too quickly" clearly don't remember what it was like being little. I remember times where I was just 5 minutes late to being picked up or wandered off a little too long with my friends and my dad was lose his mind trying to find me. If i didn't answer my phone once, my mom would start to panic lol. My son hid behind the couch from me the other day for about 1 minute and I thought I was going to have a heart attack. As a parent, you don't waste time when it comes to your child. People would be criticizing them if they didn't call the police later. The family will unfortunately get criticized regardless of what they do. This, in my opinion, was a planned attack. I don't think he knew who he was going to kill but I think he went there with the intention of hurting someone. With that being said, this person must have been familiar with the area. To know to park your car in a certain location, how to navigate those woods, and get away with very little trace requires some knowledge of the area. I think they have already spoken with this person. Assuming this person is still alive and out living in society, I think it is only a matter of time before he does something like this again. He may be holding back now due to the publicity of the case. But eventually people like this will have to do it again. I never want to see anyone else get hurt, but unfortunately I think he will attack again, and that will be the thing to get him caught.

I don’t know if y’all seen this video. I found it interesting. https://youtu.be/bgC3wI9tkYk To me, it doesn’t look like a “newsboy” hat, anymore. To me it looks more like a brown or forest camo baseball cap. It also looks like shit head has a lot more facial hair than the “bridge guy” sketch. I also agree that it looks like he’s wearing his baggy clothes to hide something, which I would assume would be some type of weaponry. Any thoughts?

I wonder what led the girls to film him coming across the bridge. His clothing/ appearance from what we’ve seen doesn’t seem to be to strange for someone out hiking. Is it possible they saw him earlier on the trail and then when he is coming across the bridge got nervous cause here comes that same guy that was watching us before. I can’t imagine they would want to go hiking if they were suspicious and uncomfortable with other people being out there. If this guy is lurking out there waiting for an opportunity like you say, what are the chances he got this lucky his first time creeping? I wonder if he’s been spotted out on this trail before scoping out for possible victims.

I can’t help but think that BG is homeless. Hear me out.. He’s wearing multiple clothes. It’s February. An unseasonably warm day. However, he probably needs the clothes he’s wearing to stay warm on most days surrounding this particular day. He doesn’t have somewhere to store the clothes so instead he wears them. It would also explain the lack of vehicle. He could have simply walked there. Could have been a regular to the bridge . / park. I’ve also heard of the proximity to the railway. He could be riding along the railway and stationing for days / weeks / months. Depending on length of homelessness, it could explain his lack of knowledge towards a cellphone and its capabilities. It would also explain why they potentially can’t find his ping. Lastly, and this is something that could be overlooked. It could explain his brashness. At a certain point, the homeless no longer feel a sense of responsibility to be moral. They have to scavenge for food and are willing to talk to anyone and everyone. They don’t typically fear being arrested because it would lead to a better lifestyle in prison. I know this is speaking in generalities but it does happen. I haven’t heard this angle discussed and I can’t get the idea out of my head.

I'm still struggling with the whole 1 man and 2 teenager girls and so little time,it just seems so impossible,I keep wanting (that sound terrible I know I'm sorry) the police to say they have found something on one of these two girls social media such as they were talking to some boy or so the girls thought and when it came to meeting it was someone older, it's the whole thing of them really wanting to go there that day. I suppose it's because I'm British and to be ok for 2 teenager girls to go into the woods alone is a BIG no no.

Great podcast, guys. Regarding DNA, here's my thing: twice now I've heard Paul Holes asked about the Delphi case and both times he used the same intonation and emphasis to describe the "tough, tough investigation ahead" for Indiana investigators. I might be wrong but I felt he was saying that there was no DNA - at least no significant or whole profile developed. The sketch I think is seriously compromised due to the radical (to me anyway) variance between the two. I don't honestly think anyone will be arrested based on a tip stemming from the sketch.

Trevor - that video is very well done. I do agree the sketches look off. I know I said it probably too many times on the show this last 2 weeks but BG has just plan and simple got lucky and LE has just had some bad luck. If he doesn’t look like the sketch - I don’t know what would happen. I sometimes question the audio too. Is BG once again getting lucky and the audio is him but the way it’s being released to the public for some reason doesn’t sound enough like him? Sometimes when I listen to the audio I hear want they are telling us... “Guys...Down the hill” Other times I hear... “Guys, get down the hill” a slight variation yes but could be huge if they are telling us he’s saying something different. Also Dennis Rader’s wife watching the news with him heard the BTK’s voice from the payphone call recorded by the operator after he called in to report one of his murders. When she heard it she says to Dennis that sounds like you and he just laughs and says yeah someone else told me the same thing. One call away from Indiana signing BG’s death warrant... I hope someone makes that call instead of just sharing a laugh with their husband while watching the news. Nic

My first time listening to your podcast but heard good things about you. I’m hooked. I’ve thought from the beginning that BG was a guy with a hood up and that he wasn’t as big as people thought. He most definitely has his kill kit under those layers. The white looks to me like a grocery bag that could be used to carry anything that gets wet or dirty and as a quick easy way to carry any souvenirs. I thought they should have released variations of the sketch with a hood up, another with camo cap, maybe the face with differing hair colors, etc. I say this because I once heard a girl say “ BG looks like my ex boyfriend ‘s dad but he doesn’t own one of those newsboy hats so it can’t be him.” I think they need to have a new press conference just to clarify the various things people are saying they flubbed. It might not make a difference to many but it maymake the difference to the one who they haven’t heard from yet. That girl’s comment I spoke of just haunts me. What if a wife dismissed her husband or nephew or neighbor because that characteristic was used to exclude. May Junior got highlights or the meter man grew a mustache. The discrepancy with the weight is another. I just believe that simple clarification is still needed. Now that more people have at least heard of the case( after April’s emotional presser) I think a crisp, clean, clarifying one could be helpful especially since it’s almost time for kids to be going back to school. They will all be seeing teachers again, bus drivers, coaches from various other schools. With all the confusions, miscommunication and changing of opinions over the Spring/Summer months a refreshing release( maybe even with a different spokesman talking this time) could cause folks to compare the new people in their lives against a now clearer set of sketches and spark everyone to REconsider ones they contemplated from the first sketch. A refresher with only facts they now know layedout in a concise manner could also go a ways in fostering more confidence that LE is still on their toes in thinking of the case from different angles and that it’s still being worked constantly. I think these next few weeks of change in people’s schedules, transportation, care providers, contacts and pace of life is the perfect time for a simple renewal of what they should carry forward with them regarding this case. Anyone school age on up is now gearing up for this Fall change and always seem more aware of their surroundings at this time of year- LE should take advantage of that.

Regarding how BG could be out that time of day and possibly being a teacher - schools were closed that day. Could have been an in-service day for staff but reportedly it was an unused snow day. I also think the angle that the girls were possibly meeting someone initially met on the Internet should def be fully explored. Two young teens being subdued and killed in such a short time period seems very tricky . . . especially if this was his first crime. This case is heartbreaking and I know we all want this evil person brought to justice as soon as possible!

Listening to the latest episode on Delphi and Captain said they have arrested a firefighter for indecent exposure. Having looked at the images and video, I had in my mind Bridge Guy seemed to walk with a purpose. Years ago when my son was in high school he was in a firefighting training program (he has since decided it was not for him so don't thank him for being a 1st responder) and I remember him stating firefighters don't run when they are responding. He said they walk with a purpose. I am not saying the firefighter and Bridge Guy are the same, I am saying this stuck in my mind as a creepy coincidence.

One thing that made me think yesterday was when you mentioned the timeline and how there was no one on the bridge when they took the picture of Abby. So were they just waiting at the end of the bridge then? And bridge guy creeped them out enough to take a video and yet they sat there waiting the 4 minutes for him to cross the bridge? What’s the time stamp difference between Abby’s pic and the BF pic? Did they leave the bridge and come back and when they came back he was on the bridge and they waited for him to get off the bridge before they were going to cross back over it but they never had a chance to because he accosted them? Or were they waiting to meet someone, saw no one but bridge guy, and realizing they may have been catfished, take the guys picture? I am assuming law enforcement has checked their social media accounts. But what about accounts that weren’t in their names? What if they had a couple accounts? Wouldn’t make them bad kids by any means, just typical innocent teenage kid stuff growing up in a digital world. When I was a kid we snuck out with what we really wanted to wear under our parent approved clothing. Nowadays the equivalent is having a “real” profile online other than the parent approved one. Just some questions I have after listening to episodes.

So MANY Rabbit Holes. So MANY questions. I’ll limit it to requesting your opinion on two: 1. Have you seen places (internet!) where people claim they can see BG partially hiding behind a tree in what turned out to be in retrospect a haunting photo of Libby walking across the bridge. I don’t see him there, but a lot of people do. Thoughts? 2. I am really confused as to whether LE has their cell phones - I read so much contradictory evidence on this? I even thought I heard it both ways on your podcasts. What do we know? I think it makes a difference in answering all the speculation about how much audio/video police could be sitting on (although I don’t understand all these cloud apps that The Youngs are using these days, so I could be off on this). Thoughts?

Hi Rachel - we don't know the difference in time stamp. I have a pretty good guess that image of BG was captured by Libby between 3 to 8 minutes the pic of Abby. Scary, huh? We can put this together based off of where Abby is in her photo at 2:07 and no one else on the bridge and then we have BG who is passing one of the last blanks as he makes his way to the girls. If you look up the bridge there are these little side planks - 7 in total (going from memory). They stick out on the sides of the bridge. 4 on one side and 3 on the other. based off of this even though we only have a still of Abby and very short footage of BG we can tell where both are (at different times) on the bridge. I think there are several reasons for Libby to film/photo BG. They were creeped out by him because.... 1. met online/social media - they go to meet him and he is older and not who he says he is. 2. he confronted them earlier in their hike and creeped them out and then he left them alone, They continued to the bridge and he went after them. 3. They first saw him on the bridge - he was walking extremely fast and this alerted them as people walk cautiously across, he was practically jogging. So here's where may head goes - if they had prior contact - LE would have alerted the public or caught him using fairly easily traced missteps by perp. If he confronted them earlier on a trail before the bridge - they would have been spooked and likely not gone to the bridge as this puts them in a more dangerous and vulnerable location. The safe spot to go would be at the drop off point, where people often park and phone Dad and/or Kelsi. They didn't call anyone. They were not spooked until it was too late! This was near the end of the bridge on the wrong side! If they could do it all over again I'm sure one would have taken photos of BG while the other called a parent/relative and as he gets close announce to him - I'm on the phone with my parents - they are on the way and I told them there is a man wearing a blue jacket following us through the park.

At Reb - yes I have seen the photo and in our 2 episodes in 2017 we referenced these and that people claim to see a man hiding behind/near a tree and watching the girls. I thought I saw something there too but I have seen several photos taken of the same space multiple times in weeks and months after the murders. This same thing appears in every photo. Soooooo, it simply is just an odd looking tree - basically one darker than the rest and from that distance to some it gives the illusion that someone is standing there. This can't be because if it were then that person is standing there in every photo I have seen taken weeks and months after the murders. BG is not hanging out there like the dried up tin man in the middle of the woods. We don't know about the cell phones, no one has said. We did say it both ways and we just don't know for sure. I once thought they collected this from the cloud - which they may have but my gut now tells me they found the phone but this could mean in the water near the bodies or smashed and destroyed near the bodies. This was taken from an article published on August 14, 2017 by WTHR out of Indianapolis. I have never heard this mentioned about the audio before. Was this ever brought up again?" State police say more audio from Libby German's cell phone was played for the victims' families, including a mention of a man they noticed behind them." "Police say the girls mostly talk about "stuff girls talk about" in the recording, but they also mention the man."

Something I thought of.... the video/picture of BG Is zoomed in. That’s why it’s so pixelated. The pic of Abby is not that way because she’s not zooming in. Which would mean he is farther away from the girls. Which also means they were scared of him even from far away. I believe he had contact with them earlier in the trek, weirded them out and then showed up again and that’s when they really got worried.

I know DNA mentions have not been confirmed. Thought that if there were to be a potential trace of DNA and he has no previous known crimes perhaps genetic genealogy could be used to find his close relatives and thus find him. He can’t hide for much longer. Doom on him.

I can't tell if it's the shakiness of the video but he appears unsteady on his feet - in the last couple of frames, his right foot starts going forward and across his left as if he swayed to the left a little or maybe that was the point where he was turning to walk toward the girls. And it looks like his left hand is in the front pant pocket but the right is higher than that, as if on something and that brownish area there on the right looks like a belt pouch of some sort - have any of the suspects had a habit of carrying some kind of tools around with them, hunting, military? I also heard somewhere that people with schizophrenia may not be sensitive to temperature changes and wear clothes inappropriate for the weather. Overall, the video is so frustratingly short, but he appears as an older man to me. Thanks for the podcast!

Is it possible that the girls may have unknowingly come across this man in the act of doing something illegal (indecent exposure, drugs, something worse?) This particular area seems to be off the beaten path, so it’s possible he may have been involved with something illegal. It’s also possible he noticed that they had a camera and were taking pics on the bridge so they may have been taking video evidence of whatever he was doing. He comes up to them, asks for the phone, they resists and he pulls a weapon, tells them to “get down the hill?” And the situation escalates from there. Just how I envision the scenario. Great job on the episodes as always. -Jason

Okay I don't know if anyone has pointed this out in the Delphi Murders case: You know who looks like the "bridge man" sketch? Ashley Garth in the Nicole Bowen murder. Does she have any male relatives that could be the right age? Because put a beard and a hat on her and she's a dead ringer. Just saying.

I listened to the audio and watched the video. This does not seem like a young guy. The way he walks is with a sure strut (except he seems to falter as if off balance for a second) this seems to be a man walking not a teenager/younger guy. Then there's really something to his voice. It's extremely well pronounced and very confident. Like the guys said in the pod cast... he's used to talking to this age group. But it's more than that. It's almost like he has a radio/tv voice. The whole situation is so upsetting these poor families!! I pray they will find this person and the families will get some sort of justice.

As someone with a background in orthopedics, I say this is someone with a hip problem, probably deterioration . I would say this with 80% certainty Any old football players in the story.

I grew up in Indiana, and we used to use the Monon Trail all the time as teenagers(it runs through much of the state along an old rail line, we used it to get around on our bikes; also it is pronouced MO-nahn, sounds like naan bread). Important--there is absolutely no way the bridge guy is 19 years old. He is at least 35 based on body type and face shadows, probably closer to 45 or 50. Unfortunately he looks like 80% of middle-aged men in the Indiana. I believe that is very likely him lurking behind the tree in the background of the photo of Abby on the bridge. I also think it is very likely the girls recognized him at least a little bit--perhaps he told them he saw, I don't know, a cool wild animal (the bridge appears to be located on a nature refuge according to Google Maps) and told them "guys, down the hill" to go see it. They trusted him a little bit, left the trail and were overcome by him when they were out of sight of the trail. That's my theory. I would look very closely at teachers, community figures, pastors, business owners and any other adult males the girls might have recognized.
