Much love to the Colonel and Captain for putting out not only interesting and entertaining material but being such an influential pillar of the true crime community by bringing much needed exposure to cold cases and missing persons. Job well done! !

Did anyone ascertain if Fahmy Malak had any involvement in the case?

This was painful to listen to. You should consider a new name ... Speculation Garage. Two 1 minute phone calls to the police don't equal her reporting the sexual assault. Can't do that in a minute. You have no clue what she said or if she just decided to ask their address or something else. You complain that the police aren't working on a missing persons case but then whine that it took 2 days to follow up on a abandoned car. Maybe government is different in Ohio, but most everywhere I'm familiar with is typically understaffed. It's easy to be an arm chair detective in hindsight and be critical when you have no access to the actual evidence and choose where you get your information from. If you had her phone and you saw text messages where she actually met her step father....I assume you would probably have a theory that involves him being to blame. I can't form my own opinion based off all the speculation you presented but i can say that if their is any truth to them looking at the step father, I trust that it's based off actual evidence and time will prove this episode to be what it is....and to steak a phrase from Captain Moron pants ...it's a piece of sh@t.

So.. if i was the woman that went to the park with my daughter to look around in regards to this case and called the police with no luck i think i would have gone to the family of the girl. She must have known them and they could have raise a stink about it.

This is Arkansas, are we sure Fahmy Malak's son, grandson, uncle, cousin, daughter aren't working this case? Haven't listened to part 2 yet, but with Ebby saying she was F&c*ed-Up, could she have been by herself, driven to that place, and then got out of the car and wondered off somewhere, leaving the car running to run out of gas and kill the battery? And then met with foul play, or fallen into the woods, or something dangerous while walking around? Being that it was days later that anyone even went into her car, she could be anywhere. and it could have been on her own. So need a shirt that says "Are you lazy and/or stupid?"

This case is so frustrating..due to the fact that there were so many missed opportunities. Normally I am able to come up with theories in unsolved cases that I feel to be pretty reasonable theories of what could have happened. But in this case, the severe lack of evidence collected by police has me turning up with nothing. I feel like anything could be possible. The only thing I feel confident about is that the parents had no involvement. On a more personal note, I know that I would NEVER take a lie detector test, due to the fact that I have a severe anxiety disorder...I'm sure they can be beneficial in pointing cops in the right direction for some cases. But to me it doesn't seem like the police normally take in to consideration a person's mental state when these tests are administered. I'm very curious if a person's mental health diagnosis (if there is one) is taken into consideration before they take the test. Last thing (then I'm done, I swear lol) - how in the world did they not find her body when it was 50 FEET away from her car. The utter lack of ignorance on law enforcements end is terrible. I genuinely hope that some people lost their jobs after this...

Surely this must be a cover up, I refuse to think that someone can be this bad at their job. Not really familiar with Fahmy Malak ( just had a quick google, it seemed to be linked with the case of the 2 boys run over by a train?) - can someone explain the potential connection to this case? I am really curious

Has the investigation moved on now that they have the body?. Obviously now it is a murder investigation, and there should be more movement on what could have happened to her based on what they found.

Just, wow...I CANNOT believe that poor Ebby was left to decompose in that drain. I know most detectives try their hardest when they get a case, but it doesn't seem like they lifted a finger in this one! Not only will we never know if there was something helpful on the Walmart tapes; we'll never know what evidence may have decomposed along with Ebby. Had the detectives been on top of their game from the beginning, or, AT LEAST, paid attention to the horrible smell coming from the drain, they may have been on the trail of the killer. I'm grateful that the parents aren't left wondering where she may be, but my heart goes out to them because of all the missed opportunities...

i totally agree with the Captain about the cops dismissing missing people, especially teenagers. If this was an ongoing family feud thing, i could see how they would be like "oh just wait a while" but if its not typical for them to do this, GET ON IT! it seems like so many missing person/murder cases are delayed and important info missing because of police mistakes. and then they leave her body in that ditch. UGHHH so frustrating

Typical "ex" who supports his daughter's rebelliousness in another effort to hurt his ex-wife. He is the reason the daughter is dead -- period. End of the story.

@Gio, Fahmy Malak was a medical examiner in Akansas during the time of the boys on the track you mentioned, and, well every suspicious death that happened that was connected to that case he would rule suicide, or anything other than foul play, even when it was plainly obvious it WAS NOT a suicide, or natural cause death. I recommend listening to the True Crime Garage episodes on this case, its very interesting case, and it will give you a chuckle when good old Fahmy is mentioned. Fahmy also worked under Bill Clinton, and that's all I will say on that. I recommend you listen. @Sammie, I didn't really see anyone with terrible grammar and spelling on this post, but since you are perfect maybe you can correct all the grammar.

So often we see cases poorly investigated and people immediately suggest possible cover-ups, but I think you guys hit on the real root cause, shitty law enforcement. You see this especially with sheriff departments or in rural areas. Not corruption, crappy cops. Which as you say, gives a bad name to the good police officers.

Just curious, are you slowing down the recording when it is released? I have been listening only a few weeks and there is a distinct difference with the speed and tone of your voices from the beginning shows to the current shows. It feels unnatural. Maybe its just age (haha). Either way, I am really enjoying the show. I find it very funny that people come on here and complain about your speculation. What exactly do they expect, I wonder? I really enjoy being present with varying theories, adding to them, and choosing the most likely. Keep up the great work, keep having fun. Don't let the naysayers get you down.

Nic, You are correct. I believe it was a glitch that occurred over about an episode and a half, for some reason. I listen on Spotify, if it matters. The next episode started of slow and then normalized. It was actually kind of funny because my wife and I were listening during a road trip and we both thought you guys sounded really drunk! I had just listened to an episode where you had slowed down a 911 call and Captain said that people can sound drunk when the audio is slowed. Anyway, whatever it was seems to have resolved itself. I am really enjoying the show. Thank you both for the work you put into it. I will be donating to the beer fund soon.
