Just listened to this episode, you guys mentioned that CENTRAL PARK 5 movie. Not sure if you guys have checked out that new podcast called WRONGFUL CONVICTION. In the first episode, they interview Raymond Santana and he was one of the men who was exonerated. Highly recommend it if you find the CENTRAL PARK 5 case interesting. Keep up the good work! With love from Denton, TX

Great list! A doc I just watched on Netflix that was surprisingly awesome: the witness (the kitty genovese story). Reminded me a bit of a letter to Zachary in that it is personal for the film's creator. Very well done and crazy story. I was also going to suggest covering the OSU arson case from 2003. I know there hasn't been a ton of information and only that brief arrest years ago. It would be great if your covering it led to new info or at least renewed the conversation around it. I love that you guys are local and love listening to you on my way to teach each day! Keep up the good work.

I'm away from my family on business for the first time in years. I'm watching the line of traffic on 85 south and listening to True Crime Garage and drinking beer. I don't feel so lonely because you posted the Halloween episode. You're a little slice of home for me. Appreciate you!

I enjoyed your lists of documentaries and you had some really good choices. Here is an old guy list: #1 A Year in the Life of Crime http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0382883/?ref_=fn_al_tt_9 This is not about murder, but it the type of movie that educates people to the world that is out there; drugs, prostitution, theft, spousal abuse, incarceration, and all that comes with it. I would guess that this was the inspiration for the television show Cops, but the cameras don’t follow cops in this one. I think this is readily available on Youtube. If you watch it and like it, be sure to check out the follow up Life of Crime 2, which comes back to most of the same people 10 years later. #2 Biggie and Tupac http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0303356/?ref_=nv_sr_1 The Notorious BIG was gunned down in a car on the streets of Los Angeles and Tupac Shakur met the same fate in a car on the Streets of Las Vegas. If you saw the movie Straight Out of Compton, these murders were the result of the evolution of Suge Knight, Death Row Records, and his private security detail made up of off-duty LAPD Officers, believed to be at the heart of the Rampart scandal. A footnote on this one is that it was done by the director of Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer, which I believe was one of Nic’s picks. #3 Thin Blue Line http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096257/?ref_=nv_sr_1 While I know it could be argued that Paradise Lost, got an innocent man off of death row, this movie got an actual innocent man off of death row. Although this film won a dozen awards, I always thought it could have been a little tighter on the direction, which tells you how I line up with talented people. One of the most fascinating things about this movie to me and a reason that I think young people should see it is the glimpse it gives you into the attitudes of another time. The cops, the same cops that got it wrong, clearly blamed the female partner for the cops death. Give it a look and you will have some clear insight into what a good old boy used to be. #4 Inside Job http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1645089/?ref_=nv_sr_1 Again this is not about murder, but it is about crime and something that any true crime lover could appreciate. It is from my perspective a fair documentation of the 2008 financial crisis. As boring as that sounds, trust me, you will like it. If you enjoy it and like to read, try the book When Genius Failed, which is about the financial crisis in the late 90’s early 00’s. #5 A Murder in the Park http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3168808/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 I actually only saw this one over the summer, but it quickly made my list as it is an amazing story. It is almost a modern version of a Thin Blue Line. #6 The Newburgh Sting http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3645982/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 This is the story about the arrest of four men in upstate New York for terrorism. The story basically outlines, how a crooked informant, talked four guys into getting convicted for a terrorist plot, when they had no desire to be terrorist, but wanted the large sums of money being offered. #7 TWA Flight 800 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3040528/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 There is a ton of conspiracy theories out there and although I am the worst rubber necker at the, I have never been one to buy into them. However, I truly believe there is something to this one. I don’t know if it was terrorist with a shoulder launched missile, a Navy Ship Accident, or a bomb planted on the plane, but something is not right about the official story. This documentary is a sober airing of some of the evidence that makes people like me feel that way. #8 Hooker at the Point http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1407060/?ref_=tt_rec_tti As a number of serial killer cases involve prostitution, this is a gritty look into the life style of street prostitution. #9 Party Monster http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0141716/?ref_=ttawd_awd_tt This is not to be confused with the motion picture of the same name and subject. This chronicles a group called the Club Kids and their bizarre life, drug uses, and the eventual murder of one of them. This is the one you show your kids if they bring home Special K, which is the street name for Ketamine an animal tranquilizer. #10 William Lester Suff – Born to Kill? https://youtu.be/cKTCxGJggr4 This is actually an episode of a Television series, but Suff was a special kind of wrong and from my neighborhood.

Enjoyed hearing your favorite true crime documentaries and added many of them to my cue in Netflix. Thanks for the suggestions and all the work you do on the podcast. My sympathies on the Indians loss, but they did have an amazing season...even if the ending wasn't quite what fans were hoping for.

Lauren-- I watched The Witness recently. I would be really interested in hearing the Garage guys talk about the case. The documentary got a little strange in some parts... the brother comes off as a bit obsessed, even to the rest of the family. But I think Nic and Captain could have an interesting discussion on how the media portrayed the story. And I agree with Taueret... I think you guys should post your lists for those of us were who driving or something while we listened and couldn't write them down ;-)

Thanks for the excellent podcast and keep up the great work. I like your jib and I think Nicks jib out ranks the captain!

Nic & Cap, Nice to hear an episode a little different than the usual and this particularly. I am the Jeff who is the former Green Beret, Captain and I interact frequently on Twitter (@adamec77) first Nic, glad to hear the Iceman tapes made your list! I wonder if Captain ever showed you my story from childhood in NJ? I had a very personal interaction with Kulklinski as he was known by my family and had apparently made a drug dealer that lived on my street one of his victims. If he hasn't feel free to give him some he'll and get it! Also a documentary I would recommend with full expectations of both of you having already seen it, The Last Word (2008) a detailed account of a convicted Texas death row inmate and the apparent wrong conviction and circumstances of the crime, investigation, trial, and odd aftermath of the execution! It would be on my top ten! Well you guys have a good one and love every episode and is my favorite podcast ever! Check news in SC for the serial killer who just got caught and as always the Jeffrey McDonald case and/or Kelli Bordeaux cases are always my request and suggestion! Like your jjjjiiiiibbbbbbbb!!!
