Your Top 10 got me thinking about Brandon Lawson and the 911 call again. I refreshed my memory of the sequence of events. He calls his brother and says he's put of gas. 12 mins later he is calling 911. After that call - he makes contact with his brother again and days he's bleeding. When you guys pointed out the gunshot noise and slowed down what he's saying right after - it sounds like "I got shot" while the operator is speaking over him. The word shot seems to be there. Obviously if someone shot him it would explain no body being found close to highway 277, as they may have transported his body or buried his body. Sounds like "shot" that more than "that guy's hurt" --- anyhoo - love you guys and now back down the rabbit hole...thanks!

Great episode! I'm going to be buying several of the past shows y'all listed. Captain, you better not be done with the show or my heart will be broken. I've become a huge fan of the show and look forward to it every week, but I'm new enough that I've got a LOT of back listening that I'm doing. Some days are Nic & the Captain pretty much nonstop. To wit: I have a puppy I am training and most of the time it's "good girl!" BUT, when she does something REALLY great, I've taken to praising her with "like yo jib, dog!" She just wiggles and bounces around in response. So if the podcasting thing doesn't end up working out long term, y'all might think about dog training. Keep up the great work!

Great episode. As someone that just discovered the show (and loves it) it is great to hear about older episodes that aren't available on my podcast feed. Can't wait to go back and listen to some of these older gems. Also, I was dying laughing from this one, "[Y]ou were pretty naive as a kid. I watched this movie and then I realized it was real. And then I saw this thing on the news and then I realized it was real...This is not real"

I have known the case for years but just watched 48 hours about it today. There is no top ten list without the Original Night Stalker/East Area Rapist/Golden State Killer all 3 nicknames given to the same guy. 50 or more assaults at least 13 murders they can all connect to him by DNA. I'd imagine there are many more unknown ones. These were committed in well off areas and sometimes while both husband and wife were at home. He broke into some of their homes weeks before to leave materials he would later use next time he broke in. He is number 1 by a long shot. May not have the notoriety as others but nobody has those numbers for decades and never caught.

Great list! Johnny Gosch is my personal favorite in fact I watched "Who took Johnny" last night and it was great to see the case from his mother's perspective. She is amazing! an inspirational woman and I hope that some day she will have all the answers that she needs. Keep it up Nic and Captain!

You guys rock. Can't believe it's already been 100 episodes. I stumbled across you guys way back when and haven't been able to stop listening. Def on the same track with west Memphis 3. It is one of those "red light cases" for me too. I love in Arkansas and I have a 7-year old boy and this case just hit me hard. I have listened to every episode and only have one complaint ..... need more episodes a week. Haha I look for ward to drop nights each week. Good job guys!

Hey Captain, I just want to say I appreciate the level headedness that you approach each case with. I know you worry about not wanting to be a "social justice warrior" but to me you are just not afraid to state what we all know and feel. You're fucking cool and you have a good head on your shoulders! Thanks for speaking truth to power. I am a true fan!

Great episode. I have listened to all 100 shows. I should have told you guys sooner how much I enjoy listening to you. But better late then never. I hope the Captain is just kidding about this being his last show. If it is I will really miss him. I started listening to your show and then I told my son about it. My son is in the Army, stationed at Fort Hood. We both now listen and then we call and discuss what your last show was about. Please keep up the good work. Your show brings families together.

Unrelated... sorry. I haven't listened yet, (I like to wait for both episodes) but THANK YOU THANK YOU. I cannot wait to hear you two discus Casey Anthony. My view on this case is not with the main stream (no I'm not saying she's innocent), I've devoured everything Legitimate I can get my hands on. Watch the entire trial start to finish, streamed online, and have read both Jeff and José's book. (Sorry for the bad grammar) Thanks for the hours of entertainment, I'm almost out of episode and am going to have to start purchasing them soon! Keep up the good work, and never change the way you do this podcast, no matter what your sponsors say. You and the Garage are perfect the way you are!

congrats for the 100 episodes, i wish us another 100 or more. my favorite case is emma fillipoff, that hooked me in for a long time, i still try to read about it but no news. my favorite episode however is the brandon lawson case, the interaction between the two of you was so great and lively. off topic but there is no post for the thomas quick case. I'm from sweden so it was nice to hear something related even though the story itself is not that interesting. i found it funny how you guys pronounced the names and locations like they were in english not even considering that it could be incorrect :)

I'm behind and listening right now to the beginning loop of the 911 call of the Brandon Lawson episode. You keep mentioning it sounds like Brandon is saying staper or something close to that. I think he was talking so fast but I got out of it State Trooper. Those two works flubbed and combined to me are staper.

In the Brandon Lawson case, you guys mentioned at the beginning of the audio clip you think that Brandon says, "state trooper". I hear "stater" which is a slang term that I have heard used for a state trooper. Staying with the state trooper theory, did anyone ever look into whether or not a state trooper was in the area during the time of the disappearance, other than the dispatched officer from the semi call? I know that troopers keep a log of the stops they make. There is no way that there was an officer injured because there would be a record of it. Another idea, if there was car stopped by the officer and they are possibly the person(s) in question, why hasn't an officer reported any criminal activity? So, some food for thought from a younger generation. My kids actually thought that that the "stater" comment sounded like "sniper" which could make sense if you analyse the entire audio clip. Brandon mentioned that there are "guys there" "both sides", etc. This is what we have come up with for a translation: "Yes, I'm in the middle of a field. A (sniper) is pushing guys over right here going towards Abilene on both sides. My truck ran out of gas, there's one car here. (Guys) taken to the woods, please hurry." Operator voice... ,"and when I talkin to him, (I)totally ran into him (got/shot) the 1st guy." background voice(s) and operator, "yes, no I need the cops." I live not too far from Detroit and we all know that the D has a lot of violence and the theory of a sniper (which I think Detroit has had recently) is really not too far out of the realm of possibility. If there is a sniper(s) on the highway shooting at cars, that person is going to make contact with 1 or more vehicles, which from the other sniper reports I've heard, will cause a person to pull over in fear and confusion, almost a natural reaction. These people pull over and since it's the same stretch of highway, the victims come together on the highway to figure out what the hell is happening. As they are together, the sniper(s) shoots again (maybe the shots heard in the background) making contact/injuring someone. Brandon tells the operator that "(got or shot) the 1st guy meaning the sniper shot a person that was there originally with Brandon. The voices in the background are maybe others that are gathered. The sniper is able to get close enough to shoot another or others and Brandon is running into the woods and eventually is killed or the sniper holds him at gun point and leads him to his vehicle. The sniper takes the victim(s) and places them in a car that was there and leaves with the bodies, leaving no trace. Of course there are oddities in this theory, but maybe there are some "bones" to it to bring about more questions, like, were there others cars at the scene? Was there any broken glass? Was there any blood? Any personal effects left behind? How far did the dogs track to (I think that was answered in your podcast, I just forgot), shell casings recovered? Tire tracks other than the trooper, Kyle and Brandon's truck, blah blah blah...I feel like this was an extremely poor search effort. I have read some blogs on this case, but nothing seems to be "breaking" or outside of any other blogs, they all some the same as far as the audio. Anyway, love the podcast! Jenn

I appreciate your passion regarding the yogurt shop case. That is certainly one that many, especially in your area that are very rightfully so- passionate about the case. Cheers, Nic
