Nic must've been totally geeking out talking to him. But you couldn't tell! Great interview. I love how understanding the way people, especially criminals, think is a low key super power. It's like seeing through walls. <3

Thank you both! John Douglas was super nice and really easy to talk to. I was a little surprised that he is such a “regular” dude and he had a lot of nice and encouraging things to say about our little show. I was a little nervous at first. I hope to speak with him again. He gave me an advance copy of “the killer across the table.” I read it before the interview. That’s my 5th Douglas book and I recommend them all. Cheers Nic

I have been wanting to ask if you have ever read Mindhunter. That book was SO fascinating to me. I have not read any other John Douglas books but I just know I will love them all. He is such a awesome human. I am literally in awe of him. I am jealous you got to speak with him. Great interview!! Thanks for sharing with us.

So fascinating to hear what John learned from some of the most famous killers out there. It's amazing to me that he was able to get them to be so open about it.

Love the show and like the new direction in featuring more interviews, although I hope you wont stray too far away from the old format! One thing I would suggest is to not edit the interviews so much and avoid dubbing in the questions wherever possible. I understand the issues of phone line quality and not having the guest in the studio with you, but the flow of the interview would be better if it was kept as natural as possible. I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and when TCG is at its best I think it is the best of the lot. Cheers Martin

So awesome that you guys got to work with him!! I got a chance to meet John Douglas in 1999 when he spoke at my University’s Criminal Justice Career day. I have read all his books and can’t wait to read his new one!!!!

While very interesting, I was surprised to hear his speech pattern so choppy, for lack of a better word, almost stammering. He wasn't articulate, while Nic has perfect articulation and speaks clearly. I wanted to hear more.

Great episode! Its amazing how hard it is to find info from the 90s even though it doesn’t seem like that long ago. I was hoping to find the picture of the missing man mentioned at the end of the episode, but maybe I just can’t see it on mobile. Or, maybe he’s invisible ...

Couldn’t help but notice John Douglas said that he thinks the family had nothing to do with the Jon Benèt Ramsey murder? It’s not often someone close to case will claim that, is there anywhere he elaborates on this?

Man, I was 100% jealous of this interview. JD is one of the reasons I got into true crime so many years ago. You did an amazing job, Nic!

Oh yes, I forgot I did read The Cases that Haunt Us. It was very good as well. I found it quite interesting that he believes the Ramsey family had nothing to do with Jon Benets murder. If I recall correctly, I think he states he mostly believes it was an intruder. Interesting stuff.

I love John Douglas! I was able to attend a lecture in College that Robert Ressler (the other mind hunter) gave - it was amazing. I did graduate with a double major in Psych and Criminal Justice - but instead of going on for my masters, I decided to pursue drug addiction (been clean since 2008)- so anytime these guys speak I completely nerd out! Such a great episode - I cracked up about Charles Manson sitting on the top of the chair to appear taller - what a creepy asshole LOL!

Netflix ever going to quit releasing garbage shows and release the new seasons for good ones? Been waiting a year for this Mindhunter's second season. @ Jeanie-Dude is also in his 70s. A sign of getting old no doubt.

John was telling me he has been so fascinated by podcast. He’s a new listener to several and has become big fan of podcasting. I heard an interview with one of the producers of Mind Hunter and it’s scheduled to release in August of this year. Cheers Nic

Nic, out of nowhere you brought up Tex Watson possibly trying to take over the family. Where did you get that idea from? I have read everything about the family and never got any indication of that taking place, nor do I think it would have been possible. Tex was an order-taker, without charisma. Douglas is a freaking genius!

At mG - there is a theory out there that Tex organized the first killings and then they told Manson. Manson then orders the second attack to make it look like it was his plan all along. I can’t remember where I read that but it’s interesting to ponder. I don’t think it’s very credible and not likely. I was told that Mr. Douglas would talk with me for only 25- 30 minutes and we agreed to talk about Kondro. So I only prepared 25 minutes of questions and all about Kondro. John was very nice and at the end of 30 minutes - he said Nic I got some more time we can talk about anything you like. So he spoke to both Manson and Tex and obviously he can read almost anyone quite easily so I wanted his opinion. Also I’ve always wanted to ask him about victimology so with that I took the opportunity as well. Cheers Nic
