Interesting case (as all of them are). Reminds of the Carrie Culberson case in Cincinnati, Ohio from '96 or '97, but with vastly different outcomes. Maybe take a look at Carrie's story in a future episode, because I'd love to hear the Captain's opinion on the outcome.

Disappointed by the sweeping generalizations about education, the black community, and the general undertones of racism in this episode. I won't be listening to you guys again.

Annie I don't see any racism in the episode. About the case. I cannot believe how hopeless Police can be in this country. I mean did they even test him with polygraph? And it looks like if You ask for lawyer You are getting away from anything. This is so bullshit. The guy has missing person's car, he is clearly lying that she was with him in a car and in a hospital. It means he knows where she was that time. I know there is no body or anything found but isn't there any way they can push him? This police work is the worst I've seen. And yeah, guy picking up car is definitely Donthe but dressed in thicker clothes, but You can see his slim posture. Anyway he knows, his mom and grandmother also knows what happened to Kelsie, this case is really fu**ed up

I really have enjoyed these two episodes. I believe, if I remember correctly, that it was 20/20 on ABC that did the sting with "Marcus" at the McD's in Vancouver, WA. That was the last update on this case I had seen. Now here comes episode 2 on this podcast with an update from a psychic detective. It was nice to have an update after the run-in with "Marcus". Thanks for another great episode! P.S. I totally think Dante killed her.

This case hit really close to home, for me. I have been known to pursue the wrong men, myself. I'm lucky that I never got caught up with someone like him. I really feel for Kelsie and her family.

Zoe, It's so difficult looking for that right someone. It's really hard to tell what someone is truly capable of. I pray that Kelsie's family gets some answers soon. This should have been solved back in 2013. Cheers, Nic

Does Dante have a family member or someone that is close to him on the Police Department? Come on, what idiots! Arrest this guy and bring closure to the family already!

If I were the detective on the case, and the landlord with the carpet pad sample is a true story, I would checkout any place near Pueblo that loans out or rents carpet cleaners. Check the mothers name and the grandmas name to see if they rented a carpet cleaner. I say this because 1) the general public does not own carpet cleaners and 2) the rental house was trashed. They probably didn't even own a vacuum cleaner...

Listening to the discussion of the meager evidence in this case, I can see why charges were not brought against Dante. There was some evidence to suggest that he did have something to do with her disappearance however there isn't sufficient evidence for a conviction and prosecutors generally do not charge without a strong likelihood of success. And since there isn't a documented history of abuse along with most police agencies, especially small ones, not having access to the latest theories on domestic violence (such as how pregnancy is one of the big factors in escalation, often after a partner has already sabotaged efforts at birth control https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_violence_and_pregnancy), it is probably pretty likely that they wouldn't have gone too far into Dante without a confession or a body. A body gives them some solid evidence and even a confession to someone else gives them something to go on. So while it may be that Dante is responsible for her disappearance, the lack of definitive and non-circumstantial evidence is probably why charges haven't been filed.

An interview with a psychic detective? Really? Considering these types of people regularly target and prey upon grieving families, I have to say, I was really bummed that you gave this guy a platform. I've heard tidbits of this psychic BS come up on the show before, usually with a disqualifying statement, so I've held out hope, but... I used to look forward to each episode dropping. My faith in the show had slipped a handful of times over the course of my listening, most recently after hearing how you handled the telling of the Jacob Wetterling case, and now I'm sort of left floundering and deeply contemplating whether or not I can still appreciate the cut of your jib. Sort of bums me out big time.

That was a good episode. I think your coverage was great and very appropriate to the situation. I appreciate the conversations you have and how you delve into the cases. Seems obvious to me that her boyfriend was responsible though.

I was an avid fan of this podcast. However, as a Mexican-American, I don't think I'll be able to fully enjoy this podcast going forward as I'll listen with trepidation. I might only be speaking for myself, but, I feel as if these episodes insulted minorities. With what I familiarized myself with, I certain think he had something to do with her disappearance, however, to say as a certainty that he is guilty is all I need to believe that this is some racist bs. Generalizing minorities was the low point of this podcast. He assumed she lived in an apartment, it's a high-crime area so he had to act like them. That's ludicrous. The evidence suggests he did it but is so shakey the AG would have let him walk if he were taken to trial. Race would have been a big issue. Fortunately, there's a new team investigating. If he did it and there's undeniable proof, I hope he rots.

A few of the 'racist' comments for this case are a bit hard to read. I live in a city that is rich with many cultures, and high populations for all colors of skin. The term 'racist' has been thrown onto TCG, with such carelessness. The term is defined and taught to scholars much differently than how we perceive it as general knowledge individuals. At no time does TCG say anything racist. What they say is with great passion, and disdain for a letcherous human being that premeditated an abduction, and murder of two vulnerable people, and the eventual cover up of the crime. The crime of abduction, and murder of two people is what needs to be talked about, not a perceived idea that we have in our personal minds and lives. TCG is not a pair of racists. If you listen to their entire library, you will hear how loving these men are. It is maybe the perception of a few listeners that hears the racism. I don't hear it. If you take a day or two to research what the term racist really means and how it should be used, you may learn a lot. TCG is a valuable group of people who deserve props for helping all of these people. Do you have any idea how hard these families have it? Do you have any idea what it is like to be involved in a murder case within your family? It never gets better! Never.

Sorry I have to disagree with some of the folks on here...there may not be enough circumstantial evidence but to say it's racist to put a lot of the emphasis on Dante is wrong. This isn't racism, this is a clear case of understanding how domestic abusers work and he was definitely someone who tended toward mental and potentially physical abuse. In all similar cases those closest to the missing or deceased are looked at as potential suspects and this is no different. He lured her to his home town 2 hours away with some BS about a "surprised" and after her disappearance was driving her car and using her debit card. That is not racist, it's simply facts. Thanks guys....you are advocating for victims on your show and it's deeply appreciated!

Interesting case, but it seems clear cut to me. People crying racism are projecting their own racist beliefs onto your podcast. The hosts didn't make any generalizations about minorities- only specific circumstances surrounding her boyfriend and his family: if you believe this is racist you may want to look inward at your own ideas. It is all too convenient for this young woman to disappear in the narrow window of time that she is to visit her deadbeat boyfriend. It is all too convenient for Dante's responsibilities toward the unborn child to vanish into thin air along with Kelsie. Cops ALWAYS look at the boyfriend/husband first in a disappearance like this and for good reason- statistically they are involved. There is so much circumstantial evidence pointing to Dante, and it seems like the cops just needed to be more thorough- but that chance was likely lost with time. One note to the hosts: please don't involve 'psychic detectives' of any sort in future podcasts, and if you do I don't want to hear anything about their 'visions' or any of that bullshit. Just the facts or logical speculation please. These people are just as bad of frauds as the guys trying who to extort money out of the grieving families.

I think the fact that people are saying this episode was "racist" shows what's wrong with our country when it comes to the divide between African Americans and whites. No, Nic and the Captain were not racist about this episode. Dante clearly played a major role in the murder of Kelsie. Kelsie drives hours to meet up with him, he takes forever to reply to her and leads her around so she stays in town longer and ends up meeting him at a different location than previously discussed, there was a BLOODSTAINED carpet in his old apartment, and he didn't want her to have his child. Come on. If the same deadbeat boyfriend was white no one would be crying racism in this case. I thought you guys did a great job on this episode and I really hope this case becomes solved in the future for Kelsie's family.

This boyfriend is a bag of worms. I hope I run into him on the local court someday where he belongs so I can beat the bag out of him while the rest of my buddies wait in line behind me to kick him when I'm done. Famous basketball player...HA! I'd like to throw his mother a slap too.

Everyone crying racism needs to move on. I've listened to TCG since day 1 and they do a very good job all around. Quit trying to make something out of nothing. Regarding the psychic - who cares if they have one on - as stated, this particular psychic doesn't even get paid. It's a different perspective from someone who is deeply involved. You don't have to believe it, or even put in stock into what he says. Keep doing what you're both doing. Let the people who get upset by one episode, go listen to other podcasts that won't hurt their feelings.

Shucks. I just found and fell in love with your podcast...and then I heard this episode. The racism (and classism) were just so unnecessary to tell this story. No, you aren't racist because you are accusing a Black man of possibly murdering a White woman. Its the racist assumptions you heaped, not only on the boyfriend, but his entire family. Did you really call his mother worthless just because she didn't have a professional job? Did you call three generations of his family murders because they were helping an accused family member out? Seriously, take a look at the rhetoric you used to describe the boyfriend, who you only suspect is a murderer, his family and community, and compare that to the language you used to describe the convicted killer in your Body Barrel story. Unconscious racism is still racism, even if that was not your intention.

If the boyfriend murdered her and the family helped then yes they are pieces of shit and I think we would both agree on that. I am a fan of anyone that has a job and tries to make their life better. Nic got some shit because he said apartment and not house, he said that because they had a landlord. I believe since this case is recent that our passion for justice came out. With some much evidence against this guy this case should be solved. White or Black it doesn't matter, this guy isn't someone you should defend. on record he verbaly abused her and she drove hours late at night because he tricked her and was never seen again. If you think we were racist than I am sorry that was't the intent and you should know us well enough if you have been listening.

Ugh it must be so hard for that family and the police because lets be real, deep down they know the boyfriend was clearly involved and to not have justice and know he's just waltzing around must be just brutal!!! There is a lot of evidence against that boyfriend and sucks that it was too risky for a trial with the chance of reasonable doubt. It just seems so obvious to me... I hope they find her and they can charge and put this case to rest. Great listen even though its frustrating and sad!

Wow, what a transition! Going from telling your listeners that all people who prey on grieving families should face extra, more severe punishments right into Troy the Phsyic!!! OMG!! They absolutely do not come ANY lower than those scumbags! I thought Houdini ended this BS 100 years ago by proving that EVERY SINGLE Phsyic that he visited was fraud! Not One ever proved anything close to being remotely true. That being said I will admit, Houdini didn't visit Troy The Psychic...I absolutely love his generalizations! Which is the typical scam they use. Actually it's the only scam they use. In their round about way giving you both possible answers so they're never wrong. Saying stuff like "if she's found"... what do you mean Troy? You're the phsyic? You cant tell us if she'll be found or not. But I can garuntee you this, if she is found, this wont be the last you hear from old Troy... He'll be back out of the woodwork pointing out all "his" predictions (that he couldn't tell us BTW) came true. Yeah, that's right, I am making some predictions of my own... maybe you'll have a spot for me???

I agree with the comments calling out the low-key racism in these episodes. The hosts make casual and sweeping remarks about education, income, and crime levels, which are often linked to race and are often the result of the institutional barriers non-white people face. I'm not saying they're accusing people of being involved because they're black - there's clearly evidence pointing towards certain people in this case - but there is room for the hosts to educate themselves about why some areas and groups experience high levels of crime, and how institutional racism contributes to this. Two people who benefit from white male privilege calling a black male who didn't go to college a 'dummy', for example, is problematic. I'd love for the hosts to think more carefully about issues of race and racism in the cases they cover, and to be more aware of their own biases when discussing them.

This podcast really stayed on my mind for a whole week now (I am playing catch up as I just discovered TCG about 3 weeks ago) I too was a young mom, gave birth to my son at 18. Different circumstances but I really feel for Kelsie and her family. She is a beautiful young woman who had her whole life in front of her. I too think Dante killed her, with the help of his mom/gma. Hope they get him soon....

Love the podcast but am so disappointed with the fact that you appear to accept information from so-called psychics, visions of what happened and so on. These people are charlatans who prey on grieving families. This one calls himself a psychic detective, yet he doesn't 'solve' crimes? What does he do?

Wendy - we are not accepting information from the psychic. This psychic worked with the family. I contacted him and asked him to be on the show as something to share with the listeners. Maybe we would get to hear information closer to the case by having someone who has worked with the family. Cheers, Nic

I am late to the game! Is it possible or speculated at all that she was in the trunk when he left the car for someone else to pick up? Also, they just started another search for her yesterday. I hope they find her.

I found your podcast via a reddit comment, and really liked your work on the Brandon Lawson case. I came here, and read what posters thought he said on the 911 call. Then this case caught my eye, my wife and I are CO raised (from Denver) with family in Pueblo; Nic, pronounce it like the psychic guy, you've added an extra syllable. And reading through the comments here, I was shocked with all the claims of you guys being racist. So I listened to the ep on my commute home. I think I found something that may have led to those posts. Around 24:00 of Part I, it appears that The Captain may say, "... a black man dressin' all black." And, yeah, that sounds... off... racist even. But I listened to that over and over again (like the Lawson case taught me). I think The Captain actually says, "... a black man dressed in all black." That statement does not have the same connotations, at all. I think the people calling you out are hearing the former. Couple that with how the narrative goes later in these eps, I think that is where the chants of "racism" come from. That's just my take on it. Good work gents, I am sucked into your show.

I feel the boy friend aka baby daddy was the one who did it. Especially since he was the last one to see her that night. But he admits she " slept in the car the night" which could have ment bc he and her had disagreements that night he killed her and stuffed her in the trunk of the car so that is why there is evidence of "fluid" inside the trunk of the car. Let alone how shady the rest of the boyfriend's family's involvement with what was going on with her car being dropped off and reparked in a number of places and the rest of the evidence of the cell phone texts. And then the money he takes out of her account. He is just a shaddy guy and an arrogant douche canoe. Love the show guys. Glad I am now able to listen to all the older shows on stitcher. Much Love sent Love the cuts of y'all's jibb! The Dark Knight 🦇

Those who suggest racism here should calm down a little; it's not the podcasters' fault that the suspect is African-American, and mooching off of his mother, grandmother, and girlfriend. They're just stating facts without prejudice. I am glad to see he is being charged -- I am curious to find out what the new evidence is, and how this will play out. Considering his sloppiness, I am surprised that no clear evidence was found earlier. Cheers, Marco
