I'm so glad that the sister didn't ever give up, it sounds like if it wasn't for her then this case would still be sitting cold.

Went through so many true crime podcasts during your break. Don't like listening to any of them the way I like you guys talk about this type of subject matter. Keep it up in the New Year, love Nic and The Captain!

This case just shows that like here in Mexico, over there in the USA one cannot rely much at all on local police to help solve the case. So much respect to his sister on sustaining a broken heart while searching for justice. Thank you for being my favorite podcast to listen to. Your far from Mexico City, Val

You guys talk too much about your own opinions these days ... it detracts from the issue and it’s all about You two ... You lost me I want to hear the story and support each family .. You guys make it all about your own self importance and having been a listener from the beginning that’s a shame - perhaps you should go back ... it was good in the beginning

I don't like to make negative comments but have been wanting to speak up lately and this last episode really pushed me to do so. It seems as if The Captain doesn't add anything of value and just makes a joke out of everything. I feel that it's disrespectful to the victims and their families and friends... it's one thing to throw in a joke here or there, but it's nearly every time he speaks up. Nic tends to do all the heavy lifting, and I wish The Captain would take his job a little more seriously and balance his jokes and snide comments with some meaningful content.

This is what I dont understand about some people. If you guys dont like it then dont listen, pretty simple. Kt - "You guys talk too much about your own opinions these days ... " You do realize that this is THEIR podcast right? That they can talk about whatever they want... I love their opinions about the cases. I like to see if they align with my views and I love to hear others views.

I enjoyed this one very much. I just can’t quit wondering about those “volunteer” cadaver dogs. I mean come on... my dog is NOT a cadaver dog and probably could have found a fresh body buried in the yard. I don’t think a real cadaver dog would have missed a body in the yard and he would have been discovered when they found the weed.

For critics of Nic and the Captain, a counterpoint: At first I thought the Captain was often flip and off-base; and generally a little annoying. He seemed to jump to certain conclusions without full information, and was too quick to criticize others' apparent shortcomings (some of which were not actual shortcomings). I was late coming to the show, and so, binged a bit to catch up. Hearing all the episodes in a close progression, I came to realize that (a) the Captain has access to the script and thus advance notice that tends to explain the impression he jumps to conclusions. He doesn't, I do not think; just jumps ahead of the reveal at times; (b) I have come to believe that the Captain is passionate and caring, and instead of being flip, he is being indignant. While I probably wouldn't give over to emotion, I've come to appreciate his point of view and his genuineness more as I've listened; (c) the Captain's emotions may be a good offset to Nic's more sedate and methodical style. I think the Captain in indispensable to the format. And his music composition is really good.

Thanks for the different points and feedback. We strive to put out good quality shows with the purpose of reaching several achievements each week. First to keep the victims memory alive by expanding the digital footprint and telling their story. Second to entertain our garage friends. Life can be tough, commutes are boring and work days are long. If we can help you pass the time by giving you a smile or your brain a little workout then we have reached our goal for that week. Not everyone is going to like the show every week, heck sometimes the Captain and I have parts of shows that we don't like ourselves. We try to provide as much info on each case as we can but also keep it organic and conversational at times. We are not great speakers nor reporters but we are proud of the garage we have built. We are even more proud that you choose to spend a little of your time with us in the garage each week. Cheers to everyone! Tall cans in the air! -Nic

Love your response to the, not-always-constructive criticism. It was a well rounded, well executed & well timed response, that addressed many concerns in one respectful reply. You won’t always be everyone’s cup of tea. I had to learn that myself. I spent way too much time trying to make everyone around me happy & it’s impossible & exhausting. I for one LOVE you show! I spend my days with my ear buds in, pretty much 24/7, listening to you guys! I’m starting to have to repeat some episodes now lol. I’d say make more episodes! But the true problem is that I have entirely too much free time (sigh). Anyway thanks for the entertainment :-) #TeamNic

I’m a MO native and this one really got me as do all of the sad stories from this area. Thanks for doing a podcast on it! On another note, I was cracking up listening to it at work with my headphones on so much that I almost had to turn it off! Not because the story was funny but The Captain was killing it. And, Nic, oh Nic. Honey, please reach out to me before you do another Missouri podcast. I was dying laughing at the town mispronunciations. Now, I will give you a huge break because we don’t actually pronounce OR spell anything intuitively in my home state, so don’t feel bad!!!

The dragging of the feet in initially investigating this case points pretty strongly to the father using his influence to squash the investigation. I think the dad was also trying to cover his son's tracks. Small town law enforcement, it can be really corrupt.
