THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR COVERING THIS CASE THIS CASE HAS BEEN THE ONE THAT HAS KEPT ME UP AT NIGHT SINCE IT HAPPENED! Ayla Reynolds will forever love on in our hearts as the beautiful toddler she was. One of my professors at Husson University was one of the responding officers on the scene

Thank you so much for covering this case. I think I can speak for the whole state when I say this case haunts us all to this day. How does such a young beautiful baby go missing in a home with three adults? I full on believe the father had something to do with it. It’s never a good look when a parent moves away from where the child went missing from.

Listening now. The mere fact that dad didn't even call the mother when he found out Ayla was missing AND didn't communicate w her during the investigation makes me so mad! Also I totally agree w Captain... I never understand when people are completely surprised to get pregnant. Like yeah you have sex that may happen! Lol

The Captain really went hard on saying Trista was a bad mom. Little Ayla didn't die until her dad took custody of her so I think he's the bad parent. Also, in the first part Nic said Trista was going with her fiancee to see her fiancee's son in jail but in the second part, Nic said she was going to see her fiance in jail. Which is I'm curious about what sort of relationship Justin had with Ayla before taking custody of her. Did he see her a lot? It feels like there's so much of the backstory that we don't know.

If the blood was indeed from a child "vomitting", depending on whether the blood was cleaned with chems, forensics could test for epithelial cells and stomach acids of that was true--which I highly doubt. Hell no, if my child was bleeding from any orifice other than a small abrasion, we'd be headed to the hospital or clinic ASAP. Especially from the digestive tract.

This one was so hard to listen to!!! Especially the blood evidence!!! There ain't no way the dad didn't do it with all that blood all over his room. And his mom says she threw up because she's "lactose intolerant?" She's got something to do with it too!!! What the hell!!!

I can't believe how much time was spent going in on the mother and saying woman should be better educated, when the child died in the fathers custody. No such time was taken in putting him down or saying he should be better educated. What a disgusting take.

Just to let the captain know, the term geriatric mother or geriatric pregnancy isn't meant to be offensive, it's assigned to pregnancies that occur at 35 and older because the risk of certain complications, syndromes, and birth defects increases drastically at that age. So it's strictly a medical designation to clarify the enhanced level of risks and complications.

I’m so glad the guys did this case. I’m very familiar with all this. Everybody knows Justin did it and dumbfounded why they haven’t prosecuted. They are a bunch of white trash junkies. He was run out of Maine and last I heard, he is hiding in California. He will end up doing life in prison eventually.

Not sure if I missed it or if it wasn't mentioned, but what were the ages of the other children in the home at the time of what was surely Ayla's murder? I am stunned Dad has not been charged with something; some prosecutors would throw every possible charge against the wall and see what sticks; the blood evidence alone would be enough to lock him up in most places. This is textbook abuse and murder of a child to punish the other parent and was certainly in direct response to the custody paperwork filed days before. That POS with the most punchable face would rather murder his child than pay a dime of child support to the mother, you can bet that was no coincidence. Also, it is very hard for a 20-month-old to accidentally break their arm. That situation, along with mom going to rehab, should have gotten the attention of children services, who should have done a proper investigation to determine temporary custody. Unfortunately, children services isn't usually called until it's too late and cases like this on the fringes, that are not happy homes but also not declared abuse/neglects/dependents, are the ones that suffer the most. I pray one day there is justice for Ayla. For the POS with the most punchable face, do us all a favor and confess what really happened that night.

What a heartbreaking story. Anyone else think Ayla may have already been dead when her mom called and Aaron wouldn’t let her talk to her? Maybe they said this on the episode or maybe I messed up the timeline.

@ All - I'll try to answer everyone here in this post... So I may have miss spoke but Trista was going to the prison to see her boyfriend traveling with his family. The other 2 children in the home that night were young 1-3 years old. And yes, I thought the Captain was too hard on Trista. She was trying to get her life in order and whatever happened to Ayla only happened because she was with her father. Cheers to all - Nic

There is probable cause all over this case and it goes beyond reasonable doubt. The physical evidence is more solid then a lot of cases. I know there is a lot we don't know; whatever punch face did that night, the one thing I can't put together is where is the body? He's not smart, how did he manage to hide a body that no one has found yet, and within a short timeline.

Cheers, this case brought me to TCG but now I will binge the catalog. Very good job and all in the home are guilty as sin. A true garage feel Nick lays it out and the Capt comes in with timely and truely garage comments. The Captain us obviously hammered or is an Oscar worthy actor.

Really irked with the Captain, who’s (normally) adorably redundant with most comments. Wtf is with the “girls/women” need more birth control education?!?!? Jfc, it’s 2021, sir! You owe an apology for that $hit!

I understand why you might feel that way Sue, but I actually appreciate Captain bringing up the whole "more awareness" thing. I think that was the major point he was getting at. It may have come across a little "women need to do more," but I don't think that was the intent. Condoms should be covering all the weiners out there if you're not in a committed relationship! Disease and unwanted pregnancies can be MAJOR hardships. Cheers to all!

It may be a little too early to start calling people "pieces of shit" in the Derontae Martin case. Especially people who have nothing to do with this tragedy.

Jason welcome to the club, I think you'll love the other episodes and there are alot!! This is by far my favorite true crime pod. As for the "geriatric pregnancy" (I know it's not really relevant to this) but my Dr called it AMA advanced maternal age and yes it's just to be extra cautious because more complications can happen as you get older. I was 32 & 35 when I had my kids and they called it that. I'm not offended. Shit I was happy I got extra tests! I agree w Captain about more access and education on birth control. For men AND women. It's shocking to me how many kids and even adults don't know about cycles or methods of bc. I also wasn't offended by that. It's both sides responsibility but unfortunately it falls on the female more often

Amy ^ could not agree more about increasing access. A lot of young people are educated about cycles and birth control but can't access for reasons like uncomfortable parents, insurance, transportation, etc. We could serve our young people a lot better in this area. I wonder if law enforcement looked at cell data from Justin and others in the household. It would be interesting to know if they left the property that night, likely to dispose of Ayla's body.

I think Ayla’s father and his girlfriend were both involved in the murder of Ayla and that’s why the girlfriend won’t say anything even now. Maybe she threatened to and that’s why he beat her up. I believe the sister was probably involved after the event in the disposal of Ayla. That much blood shows something truly horrible happened to that baby and I honestly cannot believe that they haven’t all been arrested. We have just had a case here in the U.K. where a mother & stepfather were found guilty even with no body found so I cannot understand why these disgusting pieces of shit haven’t been arrested. Arrest Justin and charge him with murder, also arrest Courtney and charge her with murder too. Then offer her a deal if she tells the truth about what happened to Ayla and where her remains are

I just want to add a couple of things. One- the DHS worker that was assigned to the case was related to Justin’s family. Two- Justin was hardly on aylas life before she went into his custody, the night she went to him. There was a officer there at the scene playing with ayla. As soon as she saw her father she went hysteric. She didn’t want to go with him. It is so sad that this poor baby could not communicate the reasons why she didn’t want to go with her horrible father. Three- Justin took out a life insurance on Ayla days prior to her going missing.
