Listening to part 1 was a harsh reminder of why i stopped listening to TCG in the first place. I refuse to sit through one more episode of Nic pouring his heart and soul into these cases, just to be constanty and deliberately interrupted/derailed by the self proclaimed 'Captain'. You can tell when THE Captain starts getting his feelings hurt, because he will start doing his best to drag the episode and the fans of the podcast down by arguing his weird, obscured and pointless tangents that literally make zero sence (best example of this is the last half of the "Aurora Theater Shooter ////// 60"). Show would be soo much more successful if Nic manned the whole show and Craptain stuck to doing Madison Reed Comercials ONLY.

The Captain always sounds like that friend that pre-gamed before a group goes to dinner where an adult conversation ends up taking place. The one that just plays with his fork and knife through the conversation providing no real substance just an occasional non-nonsensical comment to try and get a laugh. I agree, make the Captain walk the plank and leave him to tell us more about his "Fitbox".

Ouch! Harsh stuff. This case is a doozy! I hope Sarah gets her answers. I was thinking on my drive home from the Garage wouldn't it be cool if they pick up Chris Below as he is walking out of prison next year? Drag his ass right back to court! Shaun and Nick - I thank you both for posting here. I do enjoy the conversations here especially when The Garage Republic voices their thoughts and theories on each case. Me? - I still like both Chris Below and Marty Dill working in some screwed up weird way together on this one. I think Chris may have got Marty to go along with something that he did not fully understand until it was too late. Wait until you gents hear some of the words I either jumbled or created on the fly (jury still out) in part two. You might be putting me on the plank as well. Now, if I can just loosen these ropes... I'm a good swimmer! Cheers Mates! Nic

Some of you homies are making it more about yourselves than the victims. These 2 dudes put on a good show. They bring light to some cases that you probably wouldn't have heard about. If they drink some beer and tell a few jokes to lighten the mood, I don't have a problem with that. At least the cases are getting exposure.

Yoooooo, did we just say watching women without them knowing via telescopes is okay and not creepy? As a woman who has been objectified my entire life, no, that’s no okay and yes, it is creepy. Women (even those lounging on beaches) doesn’t exist for male consumption.

I love the Captain, the combination of the 2 ”characters” if you will is perfect! Makes it dynamic, would be a bit boring with only Nic doing the show even though he is great too. Cheers! K

I was just wondering if there was any statement from Marty Dill’s uncle if Marty had said anything before he shot himself, or did he just shoot himself without comment. Just curious. Also when I stay in Chicago, I do look at buildings and look inside places mostly because I like to look at decorating-not creeping on people. I think we are all voyeurs to some degree. As usual, I love you both Captain and Nic. Great job. Hope Sarah gets some answers.

Hi Susan - there are reports out there that Marty was making statements like - I'm not going to prison for life or I'm not going away for 20 years. These are interesting as the life comment implies a murder charge the 20 years implies abduction. Obviously we don't know which if either is true. It's not clear to me if these reports came from Marty's uncle or LE/Family outside of the mobile home. There are those that believe Marty was actually killed. This would mean the conspiracy runs deep and involves local law enforcement. This also would mean that Marty's uncle killed him. As we know by every report out there that he was the only one in the trailer with Marty when Marty died. I think it was suicide. If the reports are true... I really think LE would have sent someone else in to take out Marty - not his uncle. This case has a lot to it and it was difficult to cram as much as we could into 2 hours. Cheers Nic

Good call Matt! @ Gretchen - yes creepy agreed! If that's what one specifically sets out to do. Nothing wrong with people watching and scoping the beach or crowds in my opinion. These are public places. Cheers to Gretchen and Matt - thanks for posting. Nic

You briefly mentioned evidence that was in storage for a long time. Any idea if these items have been retested for fingerprints/DNA?

Whoa, bit of negativity at the top. Captain has some great shows and some mediocre ones. Just like the podcast as a whole. Just like *every* podcast as a whole. Our two guys have great chemistry and the show would be a completely different show if it was just Nick talking to himself. That’s what Casefile is for. And they do it brilliantly. But this ain’t Casefile, this is TCG. And with no beer (real or imagined, I’m not sure) and no Nic bouncing-off with his old mate the captain, enjoying the banter, it would simply not be the same show. Don’t change guys. Don’t change captain. Anyway I haven’t even listened to these episodes yet I’ll be doing that this weekend. I forget how it started but I’ve taken to google-map searching every one of the places people live who donate to the beer fund, and see all these (usually) American cities/towns/suburbs we all sit in while we listen to our guys. It’s fun and you feel part of a TCG community!

  • Part 2 isn't working for me on Stitcher but part 1 the people watcher drives me crazy. I'm a people watcher too. It's entertaining and fascinating. I just wonder had he called sooner how different all this would have turned out, even if saving her wasn't an option maybe finding her. Nick and Shaun angry much? Don't like it, turn it off. Why waste the time to come where they BOTH put their heart and soul into it to trash anyone. Bet you wouldn't like someone coming to your job to behave like that. Cheers guys! Thanks for the new episode.

I would just like to say that A toboggan is a simple sled not something you wear on your head. a tuque /tuːk/ is the common name for a knitted winter hat I love your show but cringe every time you use the word toboggan wrong. Proud Canadian

Thank you, Kathy, we are certainly aware of the awesome sleds. Words and their meanings vary depending on location and people. In Ohio, it is fairly common to refer to a warm winter hat as a toboggan. Short for toboggan hat. I find the different use of words to be quite interesting. The chip comes to mind immediately. I did however invent a new word in part 2 of this week's case. I believe the word was supposed to be Excerpted my brain wants to say Exhibited and when the mouth got involved out came some messed up mash of the two. I'm hoping it makes its way the dictionary in next year's release. - Cheers Nic

I think Nic and the Captain provide the perfect yin and yang. I’ve been listening for a long time. Nic gives a great summary of the salient points. The Captain often gives voice to my moral outrage and tests ideas. Classical thinker, “romantic thinker” (which doesn’t mean what you may think -a la Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I really appreciate their podcasts, and have used what I’ve learned to advise my kids, who are about to launch into adulthood. I’ve run into some evil in my life but TCG has helped me organize and expand my thinking and sharpen what I teach my kids in terms of situational awareness and reading people.

I just don't get all the Captain hate. The entire show is based around Nic being the "expert" who studies the case and The Captain being the guy who doesn't know shit and asks a bunch of questions and adds commentary. If they both knew everything about the case, the show wouldn't be near as entertaining. You people just complain a lot for a show that you don't have to listen to and get access to for free. I don't get it. Anyway, I don't think Marty killed her. The difference in appearance is just too much for me to buy. If he didn't have long shaggy hair and a beard at the time, I just don't see how he's the guy, when our only witness says that that is what the guy looked like. Good shows guys. Much love.

Hey just a thought, You were talking about how Tim could know how Chris walked with his weird hand thing when he was holding a gun and her hair at the same time. I remembered that Tim had watched the guy for a while before he actually got to Heather. He watched him in the woods creep up to the beach, and he would've seen his hands at his side before he grabbed her hair. Just my thoughts.

@ Carrie - that's spot on. I forgot about the creeping through the brush. Would love to know for the witness approximately how long this whole spectacle took. @ James - I agreed - I just wonder if he and Chris may have done this together. Chris would be what we would call "the extreme aggressor" here. With Marty playing second fiddle. @ All - Cheers and have a great weekend! Nic ;-)

I stumbled across this when I was googling POS Chris Below. Truly scary to imagine him being released from prison next year. It’s horrifying to think that someone might come across this not knowing his history and write him! You can see what a manipulative con artist he is just from reading his description of himself. https://writeaprisoner.com/inmates/christopher-below-a472-816/penpal

Thanks Faye for suggesting this case. It's and interesting one and needs to stay in the public's eye. We get suggested about 20 or so cases a week. We maintain a master list of those requests and would love to cover them all. We'll see how long this Flying Garage Ship can go. Cheers Nic

First, I love the show and the whole dynamic duo. Second, I’m so glad that you all covered this case. I’m a true crime fan and I have suggested this every place that I can. I live in the same town as Sarah and used to go to church with her. When I was a kid, I remember seeing the billboards with “where is Heather?” on them. I’ve read everything on this case that there is available online and I believe that there is a coverup of some sort with LE. To what degree, I don’t know. It’s so hard to say with so much left open ended and no physical evidence of anything really. I do not believe Marty Dill did this though. Christopher Below, possibly. I pray that Sarah gets answers either way. I can’t imagine the pain of losing a child and never having closure.
