Top 10 Trailers List

  • Great set for a monumental achievement! Some awesome intros and great episodes in this list. Jon Benet is definitely #1 intro, super haunting. The very first episodes of yours I listened to was the Boys on the Tracks series, (which came up in another podcast I was listening to) I thought "hey these guys are kinda good, nice into too" and checked out some other episodes...and then I had to get Stitcher for a while to listen to what wasn't on Spotify. I listened to them alllll it took me like, idk man longer than a week for sure, at least a couple of months. I'm a little pissed at myself for being such a procrastinator and not donating to the Beerfund in time for the 500th episode, I even tried to come up with something clever :( Cheers!

I’m hoping to see a Texas shirt. I’m sad I couldn’t make it to crime con this year, but I’m hoping to make it to Vegas next year. I love y’all 🤠 ☀️🌵🌮

Happy 500 guys! It's awesome to go over the evolution of the podcast and trailers. I've been listening back to old episodes and it's really cool to see the progression. The way you breakdown cases so thoroughly, leaving no stone unturned, sharing your interesting opinions and interpretations. It seems effortless, like you're naturals. But I know it actually takes a boat load of work to make it seem that way. Thank you for your dedication to True Crime Garage , to the victims and their stories, and to the truth. Here's to 500 more (lifts beer to cheers)! p.s Just listening to the West Memphis Three trailer got my blood boiling all over again. Mark said a lot of stupid things in the documentaries, but he's sure talkin' sense here! I hope there's eventually justice for all involved.

Congrats you two! You have stayed true to your roots and your instincts and that has paid off. There is no secret to your success, just authenticity in a disingenuous world <3 Also, the West Memphis Three trailer had me choking up. I forgot how visceral that on was. Side note, I cry about everything: when I'm happy, sad, witness something truly beautiful, or even if my pasta is really yummy. It's truly annoying and I cant stop. However, that should not undermine the power of the trailer. WELL DONE YA'LL :)

JonBenet theme song is my favorite, to date. I don’t associate the song to a Christmas song…more of an early Rob Zombie sound. But, I do listen to podcasts at 2x speed.

Just listening to this episode and had to stop and comment. Why are you guys the best? I’m sorry I don’t think it is the music/intros (although maybe subconsciously…who knows?) what I do know, is that I started to listening to true crime about 5 years ago now and I have basically listened to most of the big ones and yours won out. You are the first one I listen to every week and the others are after. 1) your dynamic and conversation- you are funny, chill and tell the story exceedingly well. 2) You give an intelligent assessment of the case. example-there have been cases I have become obsessed with and I downloaded every podcast on it—(with this I mean the lower profile cases, there are entire podcasts on the higher profile cases, obviously), but you guys had the most comprehensive discussion of the evidence and what it means. Most recently, Asha Degree- I went nuts on that case. Bottom line- it really doesn’t matter the specific reasons, you guys are my favorite and please continue to do what you do! Cheers

I’ve been listening for several years now. Yours was the first podcast I got into. Your voices are nice to listen to. Many have good shows, but their voices aren’t as easy to listen to! The music and trailers are also a big plus. ❤️

Hey guys, Yall are hands down the best podcast out there. Thank you for covering the cases that you do. I have lived in Arkansas my entire life and genuinely appreciate y'alls coverage of the WM3 and The Boys on The Tracks. Happy 500th episode! (And I agree, Mara Leveritt is awesome.)

I wanted to come on here to represent the Hoosier State! Congrats on 500 episodes! I started listening two years ago, and I have been hooked ever sense. I appreciate how much research you put into each case and your fun banter back and fourth. The Captain and his music/trailers sets your show apart from others, for sure! Cheers to the Captain for all his hard work in creating the trailers, it’s one of my favorite parts of the show. 100 percent agree with number one! I had fun guessing what case it was by just listening to a few seconds of the trailer. Also, thanks for the reminder that you prefer email for case suggestions! I will remember that for the future. Cheers mates, we love you!

@ Lisa - yes, I was not fan when a few years ago all of a sudden bourbon can just be made anywhere. Bourbon is made in Kentucky, Scotch in Scotland and everything else is whisky. BTW - Blantons is pretty difficult to get here in C-bus but I scored a bottled last year, its sitting in my basement waiting for the proper time and company to open that baby up. Cheers Nic

Congrats on 500 amazing episodes and looking forward to another 498 1/2 episodes. I agree that my favorite trailer is JonBenet Ramsey, too. My favorite band is Dream Theater, the theme from that episode evokes all the feels I get when I listen to them. In Metropolis Part I, they start with sleigh bells and they use clips from old movies in some of their songs. Theme music from JonBenet has all of the best elements I love.

    1. Chemistry between you guys 2. Feels like a garage band, connecting with average listeners 3. Broadcast value (trailers, edits, tech stuff) 4. Research and communication vibe Congratulations! Alice Cooper said something like I didn't believe we would ever make it as a band, much less be successful. Funny how low expectations and just doing something we are sort of capable of works out!

My absolute favorite podcast. I found your podcast at the very beginning of my True crime journey and have not found another nearly as unique and LOL funny as the two of you. You really help my work day along and don’t get me into a depressive mood, given the topics that are being discussed. 5 stars for sure! Keep up the good , hard work.

Hey guys, I started listening before ep. 100. Huge congratulations on an outstanding body of work. The True Crime Garage Magnum Opus...to be continued... My favourite was not in the top 10. Captain, my favourite is based on a recurring melody you wrote. I was going to say it's almost like counterpoint, but there would not have been two themes repeated in deferent keys. No disrespect to Nic's indispensable role in the intros, but that was a really good piece of composition and is my number 1 pick. I'll manually search for it starting 2018. The coming together of your talent makes for something unique and unrivalled.

Congratulations and CHEERS! Been listening for years and is, by far, my favorite podcast. Love the intros, the details, the banter, the serious discussions as well as the silly/light-hearted/off-beats comments, the opinions, the name-calling, the hard work, the dedication, the passion and, the music is incredible (Captain is so freakin’ talented). Your Top 10 Trailers List was awesome…I got chills as soon as I heard the West Memphis 3, The Boys on the Tracks and JonBenet Ramsey music start. Looking forward to the next 499 (999 for Nic)! Oh, and a special thanks for doing OTR (yep, I’m a nasty peep). It makes my day when a new episode is released. BE GOOD, BE KIND AND DON’T LITTER!

The two of you are simply the best. You both get me through the night at my job with a smile and make me laugh out loud. I’ve listened to all 500 episodes and paid for a year of Stitcher Premium and I’ve listened to all of the Off The Record episodes. I’m going to try my best to get to CrimeCon 2022 just to meet the two of you. A few months back I was stunned speechless when I heard Nic mention William Sapp (on death row in Ohio). He murdered 2 young girls (and others) here in Springfield and it was startling to hear you know who he was. I love your chemistry together, I love how Nic never reacts to the Captain’s side remarks. I love ALL of the Captain’s music and because of you two I’m now totally obsessed with the Brian Shaffer case. Congrats!!!!!

thanks for 500 great episodes. first found you guys actually through an episode yall collabd with GenWhy on (love those guys too) then I binge-listened whilst at work and through my commutes and you guys are now what makes me refresh my spotify tues-thurs waiting for a new ep to pop up. I think what makes you guys stand out amongst the rest is a) your flow and chemistry together, and b) the intros always grab my attention. I love the captains music but those write ups are next level. And despite the occasional mispronounciations (looking at you, Shaker Heights eps) you speak so eloquently, Nic, without sounding terribly scripted (unlike a very similar female crime podcast duo out of Indiana) love you guys, here's here's to 499 more episodes 🍻

Why is your podcast one of the best, if not THE best, True Crime podcast out there? Well it is my favorite, and the music is part of it. The music and production ARE the best of any True Crime podcast I have heard. In addition, I would credit: 1. Hosts have great voices. 2. Hosts have likeable personalities and lots of chemistry. 3. Episodes are the right length for my taste - as long as they need to be to help you understand most of the main issues. 4. The information is logically organized. For example, I have listened to every podcast about the Brandon Swanson (and Brandon Lawson for that matter) case that I can find and your explanation of the geography of the area and how it relates to the other case information was the one that most helped me understand the known facts. 5. The right blend of seriousness and humor. 6. Your skills in analysis, when analysis and theories are called for, are very solid. How do I know that? Your handling of the JonBenet case! Far more logical than almost anyone else's, and since it's similar to mine, it must be right! ; ) Just kidding. It is very much like mine, but even if it isn't right, I think your take is very logical and evidence-based. Keep up the good work! I'm pretty sure the Boys on the Tracks was the one that I first listened to. And it's one of the ones I recommend people try out if they are new to your work.

Congratulations on 500 episodes! I've been a listener since 2016. The yogurt shop murders was the episode that got me hooked. Also I was born and raised in Laredo Texas. So I picked up the book The Wolf Boys By Dan Slater. when Nick recommended it. I do not remember what episode it was. Thanks for keeping me entertained through all your hard work. Cheers to many more.

Listened to many true crime podcasts over the years and this one by far takes the cake as the best! I just started listening in October 2020 but I've listened to all the episodes twice now as well as OTR and I'm working my way through a second listen :) You guys have become a part of my day either when I'm at work, cooking or just need a distraction. THANK YOU for all of your hard work, the compassion you show to victims and their families and all that you do to highlight all types of true crime cases. Hope I'll have lots of listening content for years to come! Cheers boys!
